And still it goes on...

Driving home along the M1 on Wednesday evening, somewhere between Jn 13 & Jn 12, I noticed a silver car in my rearview mirror swerving in and out of traffic, lane switching, undertaking etc. It was just after 6pm so traffic was fairly heavy and pretty much bumper to bumper in all 3 lanes.

The man undertook me, I was in the middle lane as there was a lorry on the inside (about 2-3 car lengths in front) which I was approaching to overtake. The gap between me and the car in…

Harlington Festival, a great time was had by all!

Just a quickie to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped make our awareness raiser possible.

An extra big thanks to the organisers at East End Valley Festival, who allowed us to promote ourselves at their event.

And an extra extra big thank you with cherries on top to Jenny & Craig as without their dedication to designing t-shirts and posters we'd have just been a bunch of people talking about TTBN; and also to our expert photographer, Mike - watch this space for… Continue

Can we have your input please?

I've posted a draft of 'Our aims in a nutshell' on the main page. Please look at this and let me know (comments to the blog here please) what you think. Are these aims clear enough? Could they be phrased better?

From here, we can create well-defined objectives and targets for each of the three main aims. All input is valuable, about both aims and suggested objectives.
thanks
Sue

Not sure where to put links to other websites so thought here would be as good as any other place but I can't work out how to add it as a hyperlink - tried but it doesn't seem to work!

Welcome to our new project

This is a brand new project that's being nurtured and is evolving. We are creating a community of people who want to be part of the solution to road rage and its horrible consequences. This network is under development so feel free to make suggestions about what we can include.

Our Aims in a Nutshell

What do we want?

We want to influence a positive change in driver behaviour, so that incidences of road rage diminish and drivers are a lot nicer to each other on the roads.

How will we do this?

1. We will spread the word...
...Road rage is a real issue and road rage hurts. Violence is never the answer.
We will raise awareness of the effects of road rage and aggressive driving, so more and more people think twice and are nice!

2. We will share practical strategies
How do you stay calm, tolerant and respectful? How do you “let it go”? We will work to educate and share practical strategies for positive self management behind the wheel.

3. We will campaign for change
We want driver attitude to be made higher priority and given closer attention on the ‘learning to drive’ agenda. It’s about how you think and not just how you behave.

And the Outcome?

If just one person thinks twice, and chooses to act in a non-violent manner, we will have succeeded. (We want to end violent actions, but remember that thoughts and words can be violent or non-violent too.)

Why have we created Think Twice, Be Nice?

Toby Cooke, age 25, died following a road rage attack on the M1 motorway in Bedfordshire in May 2008. It left a big Toby-sized hole in the lives of his family and friends, and a year of challenging criminal justice procedures to cope with. 11 months later, the man who killed Toby was sent to prison; this is a tragedy for two families. Toby's death was pointless - it only needed an attitude and decision of non-violence to change the outcome.
We are determined to be part of the solution. We want to spread the message that violence is never the answer; to influence a change in behaviour on the roads so that we're a lot nicer to each other.
And if just one person thinks twice, and chooses to reject violence as a course of action, we will have succeeded.

... and the success has already begun .. see Good Stories. Let's hear more please.
